Quick idea while I wait..

I'm in the office early this morning (6am early!) while waiting for a delivery, I was catching up on the The battle of Trafalgar , or the Fourth Plinth debate for you and me.

Some very interesting ideas there, but I can't help thinking a few miss the point. Trafalgar square is not only a London public space, its the nation's public space. Demos, celebrations, parties and many, many events start, end or focus their attention there.

So as a very quick photoshop visual, here is my idea. TEA. A national institution, something which is called upon after every celebration (and recovery), its what we have when we get home, and more importantly, it is the first call to arms in case of a national crisis.

The sculpture would be handmade made from clay/pottery -a real tea cup and saucer, it would be constantly re-filled and heated with tea so as to provide a nice hot tea smell across the square, -very British.

Somehow though, I think the Antony Gormley Sculpture will get the job.

Thank god for the teasmaid!

Well, last night we went out with the Witcomb family, to a nice italian restaurant in Covent Garden.

After some great debates on cycling, talking about future plans and generally putting the world to rights on bicycle design, at about 12.15am we realised that we had all missed the train, so we got a cab to mine. As I had not drunk I was able to drive everyone home. I got home about 3.30am!

I think everyone was "a bit worse for wear", but had a good time! The boyfriend, (supposed to be working at the workshop today), is still in bed moaning about his hangover, I woke up when the teasmaid come to life and started it bleeping, -which sounds like it is a lorry reversing.

Now I've got to get up, go down to Witcomb Cycles and see that we managed to open today. Hangovers aplenty expected. But we've also got an exciting new design project we've started with a new bicycle-frame tubing, geeky yes, but exciting.

Tea in bed.

You know you're getting old when you can enjoy one of these. I was recently given a few pounds of Argos vouchers. Having done most of my christmas shopping, and generally in need of some retail therapy, I decided to spend it on the boyfriend and I. *sips tea*

I bought us a Teasmaid! Fantastic! No more arguing about who's turn it is to get out of bed and put the kettle on, now we can make tea while in bed. For those that really see the point of these, it is a Micromark, teaexpress which according to reviews I read after I bought it is the better of two left on the market. *sips more tea, this time looking smug*

It might be middle-aged, and even retro, but, *takes another sip*, it is such a luxury. Oh god, i'm going on about how nice my teasmaid is now... It was only a short time ago I was complaining about things, and saying what thrilling things were in my life, now its teasmaids next it will be panama hats, (Yes I know!), whats next then? Wooly jumper reviews?!?!?

Oh well. *drinks more tea*

Its coming!

We cleared a space in the living room, moving the TV and cables everywhere that won't strech that far...

The BF's opening the packaging and cutting 1" off the bottom  -it keeps it alive longer apparently..

Baby Brother, 'S' (5 in February) wanted to buy us our first decoration, he chose this one in Woolworths, he also helped us chose the tree, and tried to help us carry it back to the car.

And there we go, it's all up and we put S's decoration on first. -Makes the room feel smaller!

All done, lights, dangly- bits, and a floor full of needles... Note: Broom on standby in corner. I'd have been happy with an Argos plastic one, but I got out voted. Oh well.

Its the first sign its Christmas when the tree goes up.
